Jeff Graceffo - The Absurdity of the Transfer Window

After a long hiatus, we return for the beginning of the Barclays Premier League.  However, before offering an opinion on the upcoming season I want to address the current transfer window.  I am one who does not like to waste time, and sadly that is all the transfer window is. It is the male equivalent of celebrity magazines or Keeping Up With the Kardashians. It is an utter waste of time to follow the ludicrous statements that are made by all parties in their efforts to execute a misinformation campaign.

Each statement contradicts another's sentiment. The media is totally complicit in this as they report these statements without any validation.  I keep reading about these so-called 'sources' but I doubt whether these 'sources' exist. They're just a way for the print media to try and grab headlines and sell a few extra papers.

The heart of transfer season revolves around the Welsh Wizard, Gareth Bale. The Tottenham talisman is the most sought after player in the world.  The numbers that are being thrown around in order to purchase Bale are extraordinary. They would break the $80 million pound world record purchase that Real Madrid paid to Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo.  In addition, players such as Luca Modric, Fabio Contrao, and Angel di Maria have been mentioned as being part of the deal.  Tottenham's management deny that Bale's for sale, while Madrid publicly state that Bale wants to go to Madrid, and that Daniel Levy, Spurs Chairman, is the only one standing in the way of the deal.

In short, the transfer window is nothing but gossip on steroids and I cannot wait for it to end.
